Learn to sew at your own pace with our sewing classes at Tessuti in The Hague
The Ongoing Sewing Course is suitable for everyone, from beginners to advanced learners, and is accessible to both Dutch and English speakers. In small groups of up to five students, each participant works on their own project, allowing you to choose what you want to learn. Whether you want to make clothing using a sewing pattern, alter or repair existing (second-hand) clothing, alter existing clothing patterns to size and taste, or create something for your home like cushions or curtains, it's all possible. The small group size allows for ample personal guidance and questions during the sewing lessons.
The sewing classes take place at a special location: the Tessuti Stoffen&Zo fabric store, a well-known destination in The Hague for fashion and interior fabrics. We offer courses and workshops during the store's closed hours. In this inspiring setting, you'll always have everything you need at hand, and if you forget something, you can purchase it during the lessons. Students receive a 10% discount on the assortment (excluding sewing patterns and buttons), both during and outside of the lessons.
We have enough machines available, but if you like you may bring your own machine.
Crash course in sewing and getting to know the sewing machine?
Don’t want to commit to the standard four lessons in the ongoing course but still want to quickly gain a lot of basic knowledge? Then the Basics course Sewing Machine & Sewing Techniques might be for you. In just two lessons, you’ll learn everything you need to know to start sewing.
Included in the price:
- Use of machines (sewing machines, overlocker, steam iron)
- Use of black and white sewing and overlocker thread
- Use of pattern paper
- 10% discount on all store items (except sewing patterns and buttons), during and outside class hours

The atelier: we have several different sewing machines and a serger available for our students.

Sewing class in a fabric store means having everything at hand always!

Rules
registration/cancellation
The course is ongoing and does not have a fixed start or end date. You sign up, begin your lessons, and stop when you cancel.
A single trial lesson can be booked, which is paid.
After the trial, you must sign up for at least four consecutive lessons.
If you wish to cancel the course, you must notify us at least one week before your next lesson, either in writing or verbally. Retroactive cancellation is not possible.
public holidays/summer break
No lessons will take place on the following public holidays:
-
New Year’s Eve
-
New Year’s Day
-
Easter (both Easter Sunday and Monday)
-
Liberation Day (May 5th)
-
Christmas (both Christmas Day and Boxing Day)
During the summer months, we take a break due to scheduled vacations. This typically occurs between mid-June and the end of August. The exact dates will be determined in consultation with participants. If enough students want to continue during part of this period, classes may still be held.
If you plan to go on vacation during these months, you can temporarily pause your course without losing your spot.
missed lessons
Since the payment obligation remains even if you are unable to attend, we offer the option to make up missed lessons in consultation with us.
Make-up lessons can be scheduled during available slots in other sessions. However, if a new registration wants to take that spot, priority will be given to the new participant.
There is no guarantee that a make-up lesson can always be scheduled at your preferred time. However, missed lessons remain valid, even if you stop the course. In such cases, we can arrange a make-up session at a later date in consultation.
